Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, New York City
Located on the West Side of Manhattan is the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. The USS Intrepid is a World War II era Aircraft Carrier that is docked off the West Side of NYC. When taking a Bus Charter to NYC, this is a must see for the whole family.
During the Pacific Campaign of WWII the Intrepid was known as the "Ghost Ship" by her enemies because she survived so much damage. The Intrepid sustained damage from 5 kamikaze attacks, seven aerial bombings as well as a torpedo hit. After the war, the Intrepid was upgraded to carry jet fighters as well as performing duties for NASA.
The Museum features several attractions from the WWII aircraft to the latest and fastest jet fighters. Also on the site is the USS Edson, a Naval Destroyer and the USS Growler a guided missile submarine.
For a special treat, Tuesdays trhough Sundays the Mueseum offers a Flight Simulator which puts you in the cockpit of a jet fighter. This is an experience not to be missed.
