The Fort Wayne Children's Zoo
For over 40 years the Fort Wayne Childrens Zoo has been a leader in entertaining and educating both children and adults. With a rich history of conservation and education, the Zoo has grown to include over 1,500 rare and exotic animals.
There are exhibits and rides tailored just for the little ones learning and amusement plus animals from all over the world as well as wildlife native to Indiana. Exhibits give children the opportunity to have a hands on experience with many of the zoo's inhabitants. The Indiana Family Farm exhibit is a petting zoo which features goats, cows and chicks all close enough to feed and touch. There is a even a pony ride for the little ones.
Children will be amazed at the 20,000 gallon aquarium which is home to the marine fish from the Great Barrier Reef housed in the Australian Adventure. A favorite amongst visitors are the Black Tipped Reef Sharks, which can get to a length of over 6 feet. The Australian Adventure also features some of the continents most bizarre and beautiful creatures, such as parakeets, dingoes, kangaroos and lorikeets.
The Zoo train will take visitors on a tour of the 300 acre park, in a replica of a steam locomotive from the 1860's. There is also a gorgeous carousel, which features hand-carved endangered species across the globe.
